WELCOME

Welcome to First Priority. We are excited to be back on campus and look forward to seeing how God is going to use you to reach your school with the HOPE of Christ. I want to introduce you to the adults that are here to encourage you this school year. (Have the adults introduce themselves and thank the Faculty Host for making this room available for First Priority to meet.)

ICE BREAKER – TRUE or FALSE

Let’s see how many of these random statements you know. I will share a fact, and you must decide if it is TRUE or FALSE. Stand up for TRUE, stay seated for FALSE.

TRUE or FALSE:

  1. A group of flamingos is called a flamboyance. TRUE
  2. The Bible is the most stolen book in the world. TRUE because it’s taken from hotels and bookstores.
  3. You can sneeze with your eyes open. FALSE — It’s basically impossible. Don’t try it.
  4. There are 66 books in the Bible. TRUE
  5. The average person spends 6 years of their life on social media. TRUE (so sad)
  6. Lightning never strikes the same place twice. FALSE — It often strikes the same place multiple times (like the Empire State Building).
  7. There is no word that rhymes with orange. TRUE
  8. Sloths can hold their breath longer than dolphins. TRUE — Sloths can hold their breath for up to 40 minutes!

WHAT IS FIRST PRIORITY?

Let’s talk about what First Priority is all about. First Priority is a student-led club with one mission: to take the hope of Christ to every student. That means each week when we meet, we’re going to talk about Jesus. Who He is, what He’s done, and how we can share that hope with others.

Even though we’re a faith-based club, everyone is welcome. You don’t have to be a Christian to come. Whether you have questions, doubts, or you’re just curious, this is a place where you belong.

So how are we going to reach every student with the hope of Christ?

This year, we’re focusing on something really important: having intentional Gospel conversations. That’s what our theme is all about in “The Conversation.” We believe that real change starts when we’re willing to talk. And not just talk about anything but talk about the hope we’ve found in Jesus.

Here’s something to think about: More students in our schools are open to hearing the Gospel than Christians are to sharing it. That shouldn’t be the case, and this is where we can make a difference.

Most people don’t share their faith because they’re not sure how. That’s why we’re here: to help you learn how to start meaningful conversations that point people to Jesus. Whether it’s a friend, a teammate, or someone in your own family, we want to give you the tools to share your story and His.

Romans 10:13-15 reminds us why this matters. “For ‘everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’ How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!’”

That “someone” could be you. It’s time for us to be bold. It’s time for us to speak up. It’s time for us to go. Let’s be the ones with beautiful feet — not just because we’re wearing cool shoes but because we’re carrying the best news the world has ever heard. The Gospel!

It starts today. It starts with us. Let’s take the hope of Christ to every student together. How will they know unless someone tells them? This is how we are going to do it.

HOPE CYCLE

Sharing Jesus with others won’t just happen — we have to be intentional. That’s why every month we’ll walk through a 4-week cycle we call H.O.P.E. Each week builds on the last to help you live on mission at school.

  • H – HELP: This week is to equip students to start a Gospel conversation.
  • O – OPPORTUNITY: This week we’ll encourage students to see opportunities to share their faith.
  • P – PREPARE: This week is to empower students to write and practice their faith story.
  • E – ENCOUNTER: Everything builds to this: to present a clear Gospel Message and invite a response.

LEADER ROLES

These four weeks of club don’t happen without you. Every role matters. Whether you’re up front or behind the scenes, you help create a space where students can hear about Jesus and feel welcomed. Here’s how you can lead and serve:

  • Greeter Be the first friendly face people see! Stand at the door, say hello, and help create a warm, welcoming environment from the moment students walk in.
  • Food Team Help set up and serve food like pizza or donuts and pass out water. (Note: This won’t apply to every school — check with your club mentor.)
  • Host You’ll kick things off by welcoming everyone, opening in prayer, and helping lead a game, if there’s time (your club mentor will help with this). At the end, you’ll come back up to give the challenge and close in prayer.
  • Speaker This is your moment to lead the message. Read through the Leader Guide ahead of time, then share the message during club. Be available afterward in case anyone has questions or wants someone to pray with them.
  • Clean-Up Crew Once club ends, help pick up trash and wipe down tables. We always want to leave the room and the people who let us use it better than we found them.
  • Follow-Up Team (Encounter Week only) During Encounter Week, you’ll help collect response cards, give Next Steps cards to anyone who made a decision for Jesus, hand out Bibles, and help connect students to a local church.

Before we dismiss, let’s circle up and pray, asking God to give us boldness to have Gospel conversations this school year so that others will begin a relationship with Him. How will they know unless someone tells them? Who would like to pray first? (If needed, club mentor can wrap up the prayer.)
