10/1/2008 - Testify
Sunday, September 28, 2008Testify!God is good, let me tell you why:Philip Glader, our discipleship coordinator received an email from a leader the morning after our first day on campus. It is extremely encouraging! We have been praying for this sort of thing since last spring, it is the foundation of First Priority. We will begin to see lost people come to know Jesus when the foundation is mobilized through outreach. Take a look! (For some background, Phil first wrote to her inviting her, she wrote back asking specifics, then Phil wrote the specifics and gave her a handful of other christian girls on campus that she could connect with) --> Hey Phil! Thanks for letting me know about some of the girls involved in Collision! It was great to meet for prayer on Friday morning. I was really encouraged by how passionate and authentic the girls and leaders were. It helps me TONS to know that I'm not alone at Lincoln! See you later this week. Thank you so much for the verses you put at the end of your emails! They've been very encouraging to me. It's great to open up the Bible and read verses like that....they've really convicted me and made me stop and think. I think First Priority/Collision meetings will definitely help a lot of Christian students at Lincoln feel more unified and less alone. I know it really opened up my eyes, and that was only after one meeting! Seriously, I SO appreciated that time of prayer. I went through the day feeling hopeful and more alive. Also, I'm excited for tomorrow and for a new chance to spread the Gospel! I still struggle with being bold, but I'm sure that God will give me (and other students) the strength and courage we need to speak out and make a difference. Handing out the little booklets we got should be a good chance to step out of my comfort zone and trust God....Anyway, I'll stop rambling. Basically, I'm just really, super grateful for First Priority and the other Christians at Lincoln! She ended with the salutation "Through Christ's Love" and this verse: "What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith. I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead." Philippians 3:8-11 Everything in our lives is complete and udder loss besides knowing Christ, meditate on the Supremacy of Christ and allow the greatness of the God we serve to compel us to NOT waste our lives preaching something other then Christ and Him crucified!
